As Earth Day approaches later this week, experts at UNC in environmental and climate science reflect on the local and national efforts towards sustainability, and the optimism they have for future progress.

UNC GPSG to highlight sustainability efforts at first Climate Action Day

The Graduate and Professional Student Government’s first-ever Climate Action Day will be held this Thursday. The event will feature a collection of informational tables run by organizations working to bring awareness to the climate crisis, followed by two documentary screenings. Climate Action Day is being organized by GPSG’s Climate Crisis Committee, which was formed in September.

Town holds ribbon-cutting for Cedar Falls field sustainability and safety renovations

On March 23, the Town of Chapel Hill conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the reopening of the Cedar Falls Athletic Field after its recent turf and lighting renovations. The Town used funding from the American Rescue Plan Act and the Orange County Community Climate Action Grant Program to carry out the renovations in January and February.
